The bees, the bees, the bees: this is a topic you can hardly get away from in serious media, and rightly so: should the endangered insects die out, life on planet earth could also well go with them. According to multiple sources, the main reason for the decline in bee populations is aggressive, widespread pesticide use (and just think of this: if it’s killing bees, what’s it doing to human beings?).
It seems that the luxury world is finally taking up the call to arms by raising awareness for the subject (which seems to me to be the least anyone can do). Kicking it off is Swiss manufacturer Schwarz Etienne, a more-than-century-old producer that received a renewed lease on life in 2007 with a new owner. Its fresh concept includes quite modernly designed timepieces that are the result of technology largely available in its own factory (Schwarz Etienne makes movements and components for other brands).
